Our Mission
Backpacks of Hope is a ministry of Lifepoint Church Mount Vernon that provides weekend meals to hungry school children across Knox County, Ohio.
We serve students at the six Mount Vernon Elementary Schools — Columbia, Dan Emmett, East, Pleasant Street, Twin Oak and Wiggin Street — as well as KCCC Pre-School and Absolutely Loved Learning Center. Currently, 125 Mount Vernon students receive Backpacks of Hope every week.
Your golf team’s participation will help stabilize our funding for the 2026–2027 school year. All proceeds go directly to Backpacks of Hope. Thank you for supporting our efforts.
In Memory
Our Backpacks of Hope Golf Scramble recognizes Steve Schlosser as a person who "loved Jesus and served Him with all of his heart. He attended Lifepoint Church Mount Vernon, serving faithfully on the Connections Team and Backpacks of Hope project. Steve was passionate about the Backpacks of Hope mission. The mission provides food to Mount Vernon school children identified by school officials as likely to go hungry over the weekend without help. Steve assisted in unloading food, packing bags and delivering them to the schools to be distributed to the children."
Steve passed away November 23, 2021.
Event Details
Four-person scramble format, shotgun start at 9 AM. Eighteen holes at Irish Hills Golf Club in Mount Vernon — one of Knox County's most scenic public courses.
$400 per team of 4. Includes greens fee, cart, lunch, and your part in feeding hundreds of local kids this school year.
Registration closes June 22, 2026. A ministry of Lifepoint Church Mount Vernon. All proceeds go directly to Backpacks of Hope.
